HomeBrain
Privacy Policy
Local-first by design
HomeBrain is a client for a HomeBrain hub. The person or organization operating the hub address you connect to controls the information stored in that deployment. The app does not include advertising SDKs, does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, and does not sell personal information.
Information HomeBrain handles
- Account information: name, email address, account role, password hash on the hub, authentication sessions, and signed-in device details.
- Home information: rooms, devices, device state, scenes, workflows, security state, notifications, weather, energy information, and preferences available to the signed-in account.
- Mobile capability information: an Apple Push Notification service token and device metadata when notifications are enabled; approximate device coordinates when you choose device-based weather; and voice-command transcripts when you enable voice commands.
- Technical information: network address, request headers, timestamps, session records, and operational logs used to secure, diagnose, and maintain the hub.
- Support request information: your reply email, subject and message, and any name, app version, or Apple device and operating-system details you choose to submit through the public support form.
How information is used
Information is used to authenticate users, display and control authorized smart-home resources, run scenes and workflows, deliver requested notifications, provide weather and energy views, synchronize selected Watch features, prevent abuse, diagnose service problems, and respond to support requests. HomeBrain does not use this information for cross-app advertising or tracking.
Where information goes
The iOS and watchOS apps communicate with the HomeBrain hub URL configured in the app. Depending on features you choose, information may also be processed by:
- Apple: operating-system services, Apple Push Notification service, Speech Recognition, and WatchConnectivity.
- Open-Meteo: a location query or approximate coordinates when Open-Meteo weather is requested.
- Optional providers: smart-home, weather, energy, voice, or AI services configured by the HomeBrain hub administrator. Their own policies apply.
Voice recognition is optional. When enabled, microphone audio is provided to Apple Speech Recognition according to the device's Apple settings; HomeBrain sends the resulting transcript to the configured hub to perform the command.
Public support requests
The support form is available without signing in. When you send it, the submitted contact and diagnostic details are stored in a private support record. Active administrators who are not using an App Review sandbox account receive a normal system notification containing only an opaque request reference; they must authenticate as an eligible administrator to retrieve the details. Administrators may use your reply email to respond to the request.
Private support records automatically expire 90 days after submission. A public support request is not linked to a signed-in HomeBrain account, so deleting an app account does not automatically delete the request before that expiration. Do not include passwords, access tokens, private hub URLs, home addresses, or device identifiers.
Retention, choices, and deletion
The hub operator determines retention for that deployment. You can disable notifications, microphone, speech recognition, and location in Apple Settings. You can delete your HomeBrain account from Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. Account deletion removes that account, its active sessions, push registrations, account notifications, stored voice-command records attributable to the account, and account-specific security identity. Shared household resources, older operational logs that cannot be attributed to an account, security records that must remain available to other authorized users, public support requests that are not linked to the account, and backups may remain according to the hub operator's retention practices.
You may also ask the administrator of the HomeBrain hub you use for access, correction, or deletion help.
Security and children
HomeBrain supports encrypted HTTPS connections. Household owners and hub administrators are responsible for protecting their deployment, accounts, network, integrations, and backups. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
HomeBrain is a general-audience smart-home utility and is not directed to children under 13.
Policy updates and contact
This page will be updated when material privacy practices change. For privacy or support questions, use the private HomeBrain support request form. No login is required. Do not include passwords, access tokens, private hub URLs, home addresses, or device identifiers.
